To uncover the 60-year old mystery two Finnish filmmakers go in search of a WWII German U-boat that disappeared in the Baltic Sea.
The U-479 was a German U-boat that went missing on 15th November 1944, allegedly in the Gulf of Finland. Soviet sources claimed that the Soviet submarine Lembit sank the boat, but the official story has never been considered a satisfactory explanation. With this in mind, a pair of deep-sea novices decide to do some digging of their own around the Baltic Sea.
Travelling 10,000 miles by car around the Baltic Sea they explore coastal towns and far away islands. They
interview maritime archaeologists, historians and experts and hear stories of Vikings, pirates, Teutonic knights and famous maritime disasters. They meet up with divers from Sweden, Estonia, Finland and England who dive among the well preserved and numerous Baltic Sea Wrecks.
The series was filmed in HDV in Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, England and Norway.
